Job Description
The Sunset Beach summer student staff are responsible for the continuous commitment to development maintenance to ensure an aesthetic and functional development for current property owners and visitors. Main priorities will center around the landscaping and maintenance of the land, tree planting and care, and other miscellaneous activities, including but not limited to potential communication with community members, assisting in recreational activity delivery, and aiding in select project implementations.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Responsible for assisting in the surveying of the development at the beginning of each week to determine what needs to be done
- Responsible for completing tasks delegated by the Onsite Leader and Supervisor
- Responsible for completing tasks relating to grass cutting, tree planting and care, weed spraying, harrowing, and other miscellaneous tasks, including but not limited to bathroom cleaning, sweeping, sign cleaning, garbage removal, Little Free Library stocking, and fence staining
- Responsible for operating equipment, including but not limited to zero-turn mowers, wipper snippers, quads, and pioneer side-by-sides
- Responsible for assisting in equipment maintenance and relevant recording procedures, to the best of their abilities
- Responsible for communicating relevant notices to the Onsite Leader and Supervisor and Summer Student Manager, pertaining to equipment breakdowns, concerns in task prioritization, and other pertinent development information
- Responsible for following required safety protocol and contributing to weekly safety meetings
- Responsible for identifying efficiency and effectivity in operations to communicate suggestions for improvement to the Onsite Leader and Supervisor and Summer Student Manager
Job Structure
The employment term will begin in late April or early May until the end of August. The standard work week will run from Mondays to Thursdays with students working 10-hour days. Student start and end times per day are flexible. Each day will include a 15-minute morning break, 15-minute afternoon break, and a one hour paid lunch. Students will not work on stat-holidays. Students will not be expected to work any overtime hours during the season, unless otherwise instructed.
Job Accommodations
Students are required to find their own accommodations in the local area or travel to and from Sunset Beach daily. No onsite accommodations will be provided.
Important Notes
Students will engage in outdoor physical work each day, regardless of the elements. This position does not have any indoor components. Students must be prepared to work in the rain, heat, dust, and wind.
